I DARE TO DREAM. I'M AFRAID, BUT I TAKE RISKS. I LOVE TO LAUGH. I STRIVE TO LIVE MY LIFE TO THE FULL. I WANT MY LIFE TO COUNT.
I would prefer to describe myself with quotes, clicheés and song lyrics because often I find myself at a loss for words but I'll save that for another day. Although I am a deep thinker and a deep feeler, I love to laugh and have fun and be silly, pretending like I'm 6 years old and it doesn't matter that I dance like a fool. I love to read. I love being around happy people that laugh at my weird humor. Don't worry, I'll laugh at your weird humor too! I love to be outdoors and I get cranky if it's been too long since I saw the sun. I strive everyday to love God with all of my heart, mind, soul and strength and to love my neighbor as myself. The bible is the standard I live by and I am forever learning from it. My life thus far has been an incredible journey and I feel so grateful for where I am at right now.
I was born and raised in the Midwest but I was eager to head East to attend college in New York City at the Fashion Institute of Technology where I had big dreams of becoming a famous fashion designer. I graduated with two degrees, one in Fashion Design and one in Direct Marketing. I had a couple of cool jobs in the fashion industry in NYC working for big names such as Isaac Mizrahi and Quiksilver but found it all to be a little lack-luster and could identify all too well with the character, Andy, from 'The Devil Wears Prada.' So, I quit. I gave up what I thought was my dream job but realized it wasn't, I gave up the idea of success that I thought I was supposed to achieve and decided to chase my own dreams: to make a difference and to travel the world. That was one of the best decisions I ever made. Since then, I have served as an Americorps Member, traveled the world, went back to school to study Photography and started my own business in 2006 in Boston. In January of 2013 I made another huge decision to journey to the outer limits of my dreams and I sold everything I owned and I moved to Honduras to volunteer a year of my life and pursue work in the realm of humanitarian photojournalism. It has been such an incredible, life-changing experience! I am still working as a photographer, available for work within the US and around the world - but my everyday passions are fulfilled through the volunteering that I am doing here in Central America and helping the poor and needy.
